On April 28, 2026, the official ceremony of physical start-up of Rooppur NPP Unit 1 was held with participation of Alexey Likhachev, Director General of Rosatom State Corporation, and Fakir Mahbub Anam, Minister of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. Loading of the first fuel assembly was launched.

This event is the result of many years of joint work of all project participants, aimed at ensuring that the plant meets modern reliability and safety requirements. Implementation of the Rooppur NPP project is of strategic importance for the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, contributing to strengthening of international cooperation in the nuclear industry.

JSC “VO “Safety” renders consulting and engineering services to Bangladesh Atomic Energy Regulatory Authority (BAERA) in the field of regulation of nuclear and radiation safety during Rooppur NPP construction in accordance with Contract No.BAERA – VOS – CNT – 003/2021 dated December 30, 2021.
