On May 19, 2019, Viktoria Malykh, assistant of Director of the North-western Branch Office of JSC “VO “Safety”, took part in the major running event of the year which is Russian Half Marathon “ZaBeg.RF”. It took her one hour and 5 minutes to cover the distance of 10 km. Viktoria was awarded a medal for participation in the race.

“ZaBeg.RF” is an annual sports event of the federal level. The half marathon was first arranged in 2017. The purpose of the race is to determine the “Capital of Running” and to involve people of Russia into regular sports activities, encourage a healthy lifestyle, and to promote sports in Russia. The event is sponsored by LLC LG Sport Projects and INPO “Gonka Geroyev” which arrange popular federal social and sports events.

This year 75 thousand people from 19 cities in Russia started the race all at the same time. The half marathon had four routes of 2, 5, 10, and 21 km.

“A competition is always a difficulty of overcoming and a joy of victory over oneself. It was a challenge for me to test myself and my training level. I was never engaged in the running; for 15 years in a row, my sport is weightlifting. I just decided to give it a try and ran. At the end of the distance I won my first medal for running, all the finishers get them,” said Viktoria Malykh.
