Mr. Alexander Trembitsky, Head of Rostechnadzor, hosted a delegation of the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Regulatory Authority (BAERA) and the Ministry of Science and Technology of Bangladesh (MOST).

The delegation was headed by Mr. Ziaul Hasan, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology of Bangladesh. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Alexei Ferapontov, Deputy Head of the Federal Environmental, Industrial and Nuclear Supervision (Rostechnadzor), eng. Md. Muzammel Haque, Chairman of the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Regulatory Authority (BAERA), Mr. Satyajit Ghose, Project Director of Nuclear Regulatory Infrastructure Development of BAERA, and Mr. Rostislav Rassokhov, Director General of JSC “VO “Safety”.

The parties discussed pressing matters of safety regulation in the Rooppur NPP construction, paying special attention to review of the requirements for the physical protection system of the fresh nuclear fuel storage facility and aspects of safety regulation in nuclear fuel transportation within the scope of the upcoming milestone – delivery of fresh nuclear fuel for Unit 1 of the Rooppur NPP under construction in the fall of 2023.

As part of the visit, the Bangladesh delegation is planning to attend the Novosibirsk Chemical Concentrates Plant (PJSC “NCCP”), a fuel manufacturer for the Rooppur NPP.

The General Framework Contract between JSC “VO “Safety” and BAERA was signed on November 18, 2016, under which the consulting and engineering services are rendered in the field of regulation of nuclear and radiation safety within the framework of the Rooppur NPP construction.
