From August 8 to 18, 2023, a delegation of the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Regulatory Authority (BAERA), led by Mr. Ziaul Hasan, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology of Bangladesh, paid a visit Moscow and Novosibirsk .

The visit of the delegation was dedicated to the issues of preparation for the major production event – delivery of fresh nuclear fuel for Unit 1 of the Rooppur NPP under construction in autumn, 2023. During the visit, a number of meetings were held in Rostechnadzor, JSC “VO “Safety” headquarters following by a visit to Novosibirsk Chemical Concentrates Plant.

During their visit to Novosibirsk, the members of delegation visited PJSC Novosibirsk Chemical Concentrates Plant, the manufacturer of fuel for the Rooppur NPP, got acquainted with the work of Rostechnadzor inspectors, visited the production facility and storage warehouse of the finished products, including a batch of fuel assemblies manufactured for the Rooppur NPP.

In Moscow the members of the delegation conducted several meetings in Rostechnadzor and JSC “VO ”Safety” headquarters, during which they discussed the inspection of readiness for fresh nuclear fuel delivery, the results of comprehensive training of the personnel participating in the transportation and emergency response arrangements, as well as fulfillment of the conditions set out in Licenses B (purchase, ownership, handling, and storage of nuclear materials), D (transportation of nuclear materials) and E (import of nuclear materials).

Final meeting on the results of the visit was held in Rostechnadzor, where the delegation was received by Mr. Alexander Trembitsky, Chairman of Rostechnadzor.

The meeting was also attended by Mr. Alexei Ferapontov, Deputy Head of Rostechnadzor, Eng. Md. Muzammel Haque, Head of BAERA, Mr. Kamrul Ahsan, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to the Russian Federation, Dr. Shaheed Hossain, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, Mr. Satyajit Ghose, Project Director of Nuclear Regulatory Infrastructure Development, Mr. Rostislav Rassokhov, Director General of JSC “VO “Safety”.

The General Framework Contract between JSC “VO “Safety” and BAERA was signed on November 18, 2016, according to which consulting and engineering services are provided in the field of regulation of nuclear and radiation safety within the framework of the Rooppur NPP construction.
