Head of JSC “VO “Safety” Vladimir Tikhonov arrived in Turkey to participate in the ground-breaking ceremony of the Akkuyu NPP whose construction was launched by President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan
03 april 2018Today, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan have launched the ground-breaking for the first Turkish nuclear power plant Akkuyu in Mersin Province on the Mediterranean.
As Vladimir Putin said, “The significance of this great innovative project is hard to overestimate. In fact, today we are not simply present at the construction of the first Turkish nuclear power plant, but we are witnessing the laying of the groundwork for Turkey’s nuclear industry.” He also noted that Akkuyu project would involve the use of the most advanced peaceful atom technologies similar to those used in Russia, and he promised that the highest safety standards and the most stringent environmental requirements would be observed.
Being a full partner of design company AKKUYU NUCLEAR, JSC “VO “Safety” participates in the implementation of the most important strategic and infrastructural project which is the construction of the Akkuyu NPP. Specialists of JSC “VO “Safety” will perform conformity assessment of equipment and products manufactured by Russian and foreign vendors, review the working design documentation for Unit 1, and will directly participate in incoming inspections at the NPP site.
