JSC “VO “Safety” Took Part in the Nuclear Safety Conference in Vietnam

Representatives of JSC “VO “Safety” took part in the 7th National Nuclear Regulatory Conference that was held on July 30-31, 2026, in Ha Long (Quang Ninh province, Vietnam). The two-day forum organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam jointly with its international partners gathered over 400 delegates, including leading scientists, representatives of relevant ministries and experts of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Roman Polushin, Deputy Director General, VO Safety, delivered a presentation titled Practical Issues in Safety Review and Organization of Technical Support for the Regulatory Body. The presentation provided an overview of approaches to safety review at various stages of an NPP life cycle as well as the competencies and technical capabilities a regulatory authority needs to possess.

As part of the conference, VO Safety also held negotiations with the leadership of the Vietnam Agency for Radiation and Nuclear Safety (VARANS). The parties discussed the prospects of cooperation in capacity building and developing the expertise of VARANS, including technical seminars, transfer of practical experience and joint activities in reviewing NPP safety analysis reports.

The parties confirmed their interest in further development of long-term cooperation.
