JSC “VO “Safety” held a meeting with the IAEA in the framework of EuCAS Network

On October 15-17, 2019 JSC “VO “Safety” together with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) held a meeting in the framework of the European and Central Asian Safety Network (EuCAS) on the issues related to education and training of personnel. The event was arranged to strengthen cooperation between JSC “VO “Safety” and the IAEA.

The meeting was held at the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI under the aegis of the 4th Working Group of EuCAS related to education and training, coordinated by JSC “VO “Safety” representatives. The following persons took part in the meeting: Mr. Geza Macsuga, IAEA nuclear safety officer, experts representing the following member states of EuCAS Network: Azerbaijan, the Republic of Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, France, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Moldova, Norway, Serbia and Slovakia, and invited experts from the Federal Medical and Biological Agency of Russia and Federal Medical, Biophysical Center named after A. I. Burnazyan, representing the Russian Party.

In the framework of a three-day agenda two group discussions were conducted and presentations were made, upon the results of which the topics of future training courses of EuCAS Network were determined taking into account each member state’s needs and possibilities of implementation. Besides, excursions to the laboratories of MEPhI and to JSC EC ASE were arranged for meeting participants. During the excursions the participants got familiarized with a Multi-D technology applied during design and construction of NPPs.

As a reminder, the European and Central Asian Safety Network (EuCAS) is a regional network under the aegis of the IAEA. It unifies the representatives of regulatory bodies and technical support organizations of European and Central Asian regions. The EuCAS is aimed at supporting the development of nuclear and radiation safety infrastructures as per IAEA standards on a regional level.
