Nuclear Technology Forum & Fair to Open in Nizhny Novgorod

The 2nd International Nuclear Science and Technology Forum & Fair will take place in Nizhny Novgorod on May 19 — 22, 2009. The event is part of the government’s push for better economics and shorter construction cycle of nuclear power plants (NPP). The Forum will look into the ways of improving cooperation with vendors, getting quality NPP equipment for better prices, fostering competitive market environment and transparency in the supply chain.

The Forum will also host a conference on Managing the Life Cycle of Plants Under Construction and a specialized exhibition, Nuclear Power Plant Equipment and Technologies. In addition, manufacturers and suppliers of equipment for Power Units III and IV of the Rostov Nuclear Power Plant will undergo qualification; results to be announced during the Forum. The agenda also includes public tenders, bids and auctions for equipment supply contracts.

The presentation of The 6D Project is expected to be the key event of the Forum. The 6D Project is a power unit design and construction process control system based on the information model comprising detailed design data.

The Forum organizers are: All-Russian CJSC Nizhegorodskaya Yarmarka (Nizhny Novgorod Fair), non-profit partnership Nizhny Novgorod Business Center for Nuclear Engineering, OJSC Nizhny Novgorod Engineering Company “ATOMENERGOPROEKT”. Sponsors: Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation and JSC Atomenergoprom.

History:

The 2nd International Nuclear Science and Technology Forum & Fair was first held in 2008. It was attended by more than 80 companies and organizations from Germany, France, the Czech Republic, Ukraine and 22 constituent entities of the Russian Federation. The total value of equipment supply contracts for Power Unit II of Rostov NPP, Power Unit IV of Kalinin NPP, and the Power Units of Novovoronezhskaya NPP put up for public tenders, bids and auctions held during the Forum, exceeded 15 billion roubles. The Forum also launched the suppliers and construction contractors selection process to build Power Units III and IV at Rostov NPP.
