Atomenergoprom adopts memorandum on the development of standardized nuclear power plant (NPP) design and construction management systems
26 мая 2009As a result of the conference on Managing the Life Cycle of Nuclear Power Plants Under Construction: The 6D Project held in Nizhny Novgorod, JSC Atomenergoprom passed the Memorandum on the Development of Standardized Nuclear Power Plant Design and Construction Management Systems.
The conference, which concluded on May 20, 2009, became the key event of the 2nd International Nuclear Science and Technology Forum & Fair. At the conference, participants were introduced to an innovative approach to the development of design and construction process management systems for NPP reactor projects. The new method, aka The 6D Project, features an information model comprising detailed reactor design and construction data.
The primary outcome of the conference became the Memorandum on the Development of Standardized Nuclear Power Plant Design and Construction Management Systems adopted by JSC Atomenergoprom. The memorandum was signed by Aleksander Polushkin, JSC Atomenergoprom Deputy Director; Sergei Boyarkin, JSC Energoatom Concern Deputy Director General; and by the directors of three engineering companies: JSC NIAEP (Nizhny Novgorod), JSC Atomenergoproject (Moscow), and JSC SPbAEP (Saint-Petersburg).
“Today, all three engineering companies are developing and distributing innovative management tools for NPP design and construction. Consolidation of effort will be mutually beneficial,” noted Aleksander Polushkin, JSC Atomenergoprom Deputy Director. Valeriy Limarenko, Director of JSC NIAEP summed up the conference agenda, stating that “Our task is to design both an integrated concept and method that would form the basis for managing the design and construction of all our nuclear reactors.” “However,” he continued, “three primary objectives need to be met in the short term: build a unified database, establish common performance standards, and improve the efficiency of digital documentation systems.”
As mentioned earlier, the 2nd International Nuclear Science and Technology Forum & Fair is being held in Nizhny Novgorod on May 19 — 22, 2009 as part of the administration’s push for a more economical and shorter cycle for nuclear power plant construction. The Forum seeks to improve cooperation between vendors, ensure the availability of quality NPP equipment at reasonable prices, and finally, foster both a competitive market environment and transparency in the supply chain.
The Forum is being organized by the National CJSC Nizhegorodskaya Yarmarka (Nizhny Novgorod Fair), the non-profit Nizhny Novgorod Business Center for Nuclear Engineering, and JSC Nizhny Novgorod Engineering Company “ATOMENERGOPROEKT”. Sponsors are Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation and JSC Atomenergoprom.
