From 29 June to 3 July 2026, the IAEA Headquarters in Vienna, Austria, hosted the International Technical Conference on Topical Issues in Nuclear Installation Safety: \u201cLearning from the past to accelerate the future\u201d (TIC 2026). The event was dedicated to enhancing the safety of operating nuclear power plants and regulatory readiness for the introduction of innovative technologies.<\/p>\n

During the session \u201cRegulatory Readiness and Safety Frameworks\u201d, Sergey Afonin, Director of the Project Development Department of JSC \u201cVO \u201cSafety\u201d, presented a report on the establishment of a multimedia situation and analytical center for the regulation and safety assessment of NPPs throughout all stages of their life cycle.<\/p>\n

Conference participants also discussed international cooperation, safety culture issues, the implementation of artificial intelligence, and the harmonization of regulatory requirements for small modular and molten salt reactors. Following the event, strategic directions for industry development were formed. The delivered presentations and reports are expected to be published in the IAEA conference proceedings.<\/p>\n
