{"id":11887,"date":"2015-11-09T12:00:00","date_gmt":"2015-11-09T09:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vo.afonico-test.ru\/novosti-otrasli\/grid-connection-for-first-changjiang-unit\/"},"modified":"2015-11-09T12:00:00","modified_gmt":"2015-11-09T09:00:00","slug":"grid-connection-for-first-changjiang-unit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vosafety.ru\/en\/novosti-otrasli\/grid-connection-for-first-changjiang-unit\/","title":{"rendered":"Grid connection for first Changjiang unit"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4><strong>Unit 1\u00a0of the Changjiang nuclear power plant on China\u2019s southern island province of Hainan has been connected to the electricity grid, China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) announced today.<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The 650\u00a0MWe CNP-600\u00a0pressurized water reactor (PWR) was connected to the grid at 7.12pm on 7\u00a0November, CNNC said.<\/p>\n<p>Initial approval for the Changjiang plant\u2019s construction was granted by China\u2019s National Developmental and Reform Commission in July 2008. Early site works began in December that year. Construction of unit 1\u00a0began with the pouring of first concrete on 25\u00a0April 2010, while that for unit 2\u00a0was poured on 21\u00a0November that year.<\/p>\n<p>The loading of the 121\u00a0fuel assemblies into the core of Changjiang 1\u00a0began on 26\u00a0August and the reactor achieved first criticality on 12\u00a0October. It is expected to begin commercial operation by the end of this year, while unit 2\u00a0is set to start up next year.<\/p>\n<p>The plant, near Hoi Mei Tong village in China\u2019s Hainan province, is being built as a joint venture between CNNC and China Huaneng Group, with shares split 51% and 49%, respectively. The plant will eventually comprise four units, with units 3\u00a0and 4\u00a0housing either CNP-650\u00a0or ACP-600\u00a0reactors. Construction of both those units is scheduled to begin by 2018.<\/p>\n<p>CNNC said that the Changjiang plant is being built with a localization rate of more than 82%.
