{"id":11827,"date":"2014-11-05T12:00:00","date_gmt":"2014-11-05T09:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vo.afonico-test.ru\/novosti-otrasli\/construction-milestone-at-taishan-2-epr\/"},"modified":"2014-11-05T12:00:00","modified_gmt":"2014-11-05T09:00:00","slug":"construction-milestone-at-taishan-2-epr","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vosafety.ru\/en\/novosti-otrasli\/construction-milestone-at-taishan-2-epr\/","title":{"rendered":"Construction milestone at Taishan 2 EPR"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4><strong>The fourth Areva EPR under construction reached a milestone with the placement of its reactor pressure vessel at the Taishan nuclear power plant in southern China.<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The heavy lift operation took place on 30\u00a0October and was announced by China Nuclear Industry 23\u00a0Construction Company (CNI23) today. Placing the vessel requires it to be brought through an equipment hatch horizontally and then rotated through 90\u00a0degrees and lowered into place.<\/p>\n<p>CNI23\u00a0said it had developed some new techniques since doing the same thing for Taishan 1\u00a0in June 2012. It said an \u201cinnovative\u201d way to remove aft lugs from the lifting process had made the process \u201cmore short, efficient and safe\u201d. The whole operation took eight hours, a reduction of five hours compared with Taishan 1, which CNI23\u00a0said \u201cgreatly enhanced the efficiency of construction\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Taishan features two 1660\u00a0MWe Areva EPR units, which are being built by the 70\u201330\u00a0joint venture of China General Nuclear (CGN) and France\u2019s EDF that will also own and operate them. The plant is in China\u2019s Guangdong province. Other EPRs are under construction in Finland and France, and are planned for the UK as well as India.<\/p>\n<p>The major components for Taishan 1\u00a0were imported: the pressure vessel from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) of Japan and the steam generators from Areva Chalon\/St. Marcel in France, but those for Taishan 2\u00a0are all made in China: the pressure vessel by Dongfang Electric Co (DEC), two of the steam generators also by DEC and the other two by Shanghai Electric.
