{"id":11795,"date":"2014-04-15T12:00:00","date_gmt":"2014-04-15T09:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vo.afonico-test.ru\/novosti-otrasli\/hanhikivi-investment-decision\/"},"modified":"2014-04-15T12:00:00","modified_gmt":"2014-04-15T09:00:00","slug":"hanhikivi-investment-decision","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vosafety.ru\/en\/novosti-otrasli\/hanhikivi-investment-decision\/","title":{"rendered":"Hanhikivi investment decision"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4><strong>A binding decision to construct and finance the Hanhikivi nuclear power plant in Finland has been made by the shareholders of Fennovoima, including Russian state nuclear company Rosatom.<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>At the general meeting of Fennovoima, held today in Helsinki, Voimaosakeyhti\u00f6 SF\u00a0\u2014 the Finnish majority owner of Fennovoima\u00a0\u2014 and Rosatom announced their intention to build the proposed Hanhikivi plant. The plant will be built in the municipality of Pyh\u00e4joki on Finland\u2019s western coast.<\/p>\n<p>Fennovoima signed the plant supply contract for Hanhikivi with Rusatom Overseas\u00a0\u2014 Rosatom\u2019s subsidiary concerned with exports of nuclear power plants\u00a0\u2014 last December. Rosatom has offered to build a plant using an AES-2006\u00a0VVER.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of March, Voimaosakeyhti\u00f6 announced that it had signed a share transaction agreement with RAOS Voima Oy, a Finnish subsidiary set up by Rosatom specifically for holding a stake in Fennovoima. Through that agreement Rosatom now holds a 34% stake in Fennovoima.<\/p>\n<p>In February, Voimaosakeyhti\u00f6 said that 44\u00a0of its shareholders had confirmed they would take a combined 50.2% stake in Hanhikivi project. However, Voimaosakeyhti\u00f6 says that it \u201caims at keeping its ownership in Fennovoima at the current 66%\u201d. This would mean persuading its current shareholders to increase their respective stakes or by finding new investors for the power plant project.<\/p>\n<p>An application was submitted by Fennovoima to the government last month to amend the 2010\u00a0decision-in-principle. This decision allows it to construct a new nuclear plant of 1500\u20132500\u00a0MWe capacity and was based on the company building a plant featuring Areva\u2019s EPR or Kerena design, or Toshiba\u2019s ABWR. The amendment will include Rosatom\u2019s AES-2006\u00a0plant, which uses a 1200\u00a0MWe-class reactor.
